Ulm is a city in the German Bundesland of Baden-Württemberg, situated on the River Danube. Today, it is an economic centre due to its varied industries, and it is the seat of a university University of Ulm. The city of Ulm is situated in the northern part of the North Alpine Foreland Basin, where the basin reaches the Swabian Alb. The city has very old trading traditions dating from medieval times and a long history of industrialisation, beginning with the establishment of a railway station in 1850.
