Chaniá is the second largest city of Crete and the capital of the Chania Prefecture. The city enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, with sunny dry summers and mild rainy winters. Two main sources of wealth in Chania are agriculture and tourism. The city is served by Ioannis Daskalogiannis Chania International Airport on the Akrotiri Peninsula. The city of Chania lies at the east end of the Gulf of Chania.
